Riding The Storm
It wasn’t until the summer of 2002 that I began taking an interest in painting the terrain around me. After a short season of sketching and painting in the hills and fields of southern Manitoba, I brought back to the studio what I had learned out on the fields.
My landscapes centre around the places I’ve lived and traveled. There are several pieces that I’ve painted using just the memory of a setting, but most of them have been composed from various elements of actual locations. Whether its the salty coastal breeze on your lips or the dry bitter cold of prairie winter winds on your face, by experiencing the natural elements of a scene one is able to add character, depth and precision to a landscape.
